Look in the past
Photo series  November 2016
Interesting rock structures aroused my interest while visiting a nearby quarry. The rock bed formed over very long periods contain iron compounds which, depending on the weather, formed colored iron oxides. These iron oxides provide color play from red to Indian yellow. They form a nice contrast to the blackish remaining rocks, which are rich in carbon. The moisture of a previous rainfall still increased the contrast. The layered material also gives the rocks a relief-like character. A similar impression is also possible when looking at the soil layers exposed by the rock excavation. Here you can really experience a look back into the past. In connection with the temporal origin and the aesthetic appeal of the rocks, from my point of view the photographic documentation a worthwhile project.
